About: Mark Thompson

Training by Mark
A graduate in Instrumentation and Control Engineering and a Chartered Engineer by profession. Mark has spent his pharmaceutical career specialising in Sterilisation Technologies and Sterile Product manufacture.
Mark Thompson’s industry experience includes work with Eli Lilly, Rhone Poulenc Rorer (Sanofi Aventis) and Smith and Nephew Medical all involving Sterile product Manufacture. This includes Aseptic manufacture and Terminally Sterilised products, Fermentation and Distillation processes, Parenterals and Medical Devices.
Mark left his position as Engineering Manager at Smith and Nephew in 2000 to form Honeyman Sterilisation Ltd with Brian Reeks and Trevor Honeyman. For the last 12 years Mark has been Managing Director of Honeyman Group and responsible for delivery of much of the consultancy and training in Sterile product Manufacture and Sterilisation Technology.
Over this period, Mark has worked extensively with companies and regulatory bodies all over the world in new product introduction, troubleshooting and process improvement projects.
Mark has published many articles on Sterilisation Technology, Biological validation strategies and Biological Indicators.
Numerous regulatory inspectors from around the world have attended training courses run by Mark. This combined with ongoing project and regulatory interface experience ensures that applications and knowledge transfer is as up to date with current trends and current technology as possible.
